India has a vast coast line which provides livelihood for lakhs of people who live in the coastal regions. Tons of fish are caught every day, which has a huge market inland and overseas. Having said this, fish farming has developed into one of the main occupations. During the monsoon, when the sea surge is high, fishermen are forbidden to fish. It also goes by the name Pisci culture, which is about breeding, exporting exotic fish. Fish is a healthy food as they are rich in protein and other minerals. Fish Farmers Day is observed on the 10th of July every year to show solidarity with the fishermen and women who brave the high seas for a good catch.
