There are lakhs of people who leave their country of origin to try to enter a country illegally. They are called displaced people. Most of the refugees are from poorer nations and war-torn countries. Many of them sail on rough seas days together without food and get killed by storms or by guns. Children, especially, are the worst affected as they die of hunger just waiting to cross over to a safer haven. The UNHRC has launched a special movement of solidarity with these refugees. Very few countries are ready to accept them on humanitarian grounds. Let us spare a thought to the millions of displaced people and be sympathetic towards them as today’s World Refugee Day.
