One of the most attractive and beautiful blooms in the world are the tulips. Originally, grown in Amsterdam and Europe, these vibrant hues are a visual treat! They bloom in a rainbow palette of colours! If we jog our memory, there would be hoards of people converging in Amsterdam or nearby places to see nature's bounty! These places have also graced our silver screen!
Fast forward to today's time; there's no need to fly to a distant land but can travel to Asia's biggest tulip garden in our own country, the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was inaugurated yesterday by the chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Omar Abdullah. He has urged people to visit this heavenly garden and enjoy the blooms. Nestled between the Dal lake and Zabarwan hills is this beautiful garden that has a mind-boggling 1.7 lakh bulbs that will bloom in a phased manner; that is from the 27th of March to mid April, heralding the Spring in the valley.
The records show that last year, 4.65 lakh tourists visited this garden and this year, the footfalls are bound to increase! Mother Nature is always bountiful if not damaged. As the years pass by, Asia's biggest tulip garden most definitely will attract more and more people to witness the most colourful and mind-boggling bulbs, which are called TULIPS!
