World Wildlife Day is celebrated on the 3rd of March every year. We share our earth with millions of other species, in water and on land. A rich flora and fauna is a pride of any country. But, due to rapid urbanization, we're encroaching forest land, and that is leading to man-animal conflict. Forests play quite an imperative role to regulate rainfall and absorb the water from run offs. By this, our forests remain green, and also, elevate the water table, plus providing drinking water to the denizens of our forests. Marine wildlife too plays a major role. Mindless and overfishing, culling of sharks for their fins, oil spills spell ecological disaster for people whose main occupation remains fishing.
Every species plays a pivotal role in our ecosystem. Saving them from annihilation lies in the hands of people and their respective governments to safeguard the green cover. Let us learn to live and let live. Let not human greed take over the existence of animals, birds, and other organisms that make the Earth so unique!
