Today's VISHWA HINDI DIWAS. This day is observed to commemorate the first World Hindi Conference held in Nagpur, Maharashtra, in the year 1975. This was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi. 122 representatives from 30 countries attended, making this a significant move to promote Hindi on an international platform! The first conference held was to recognize Hindi as a universal language and to promote its global presence! Hindi is written in Devanagari script, and Article 343 in our constitution recognizes Hindi as our National Language. Hindi is the 4th widely spoken language in the world. As our country, India is rich in its cultural diversity, Hindi plays an imperative role. Hindi literature is replete with the finest of musicians, lyricists, and poets. Our children learn the national language right from the 1st grade. Let us be proud of our heritage. Happy Hindi Diwas.
