In short, they are called NRIs, which translates into Non-Resident Indian. Indians living abroad enjoy special status in banks as they remit their savings that are in millions! Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas is observed by the Ministry of External Affairs, India's government. This year's theme is 'Diaspora, reliable progress in India's Amrit Kaal.' This conference is to engage the Diaspora to participate in the progress of India, which once belonged to their parents and families for mutual benefits.
