Kanata Jayanthi is celebrated in our state to commemorate the birth anniversary of the great poet, philosopher, Saint, composer, and musician. The devotional songs and 'Keertans' composed by this humble and great Saint are rendered even to this day! His contributions to Carnatic music are noteworthy. He has composed nearly 300 katanas, which are known for their lyrics.
Folk Lore says that he was a warrior from the Kuruba community. Once, he was grievously injured during a battle but survived. That acted as a catalyst in his life and became an ardent devotee of 'Hari', and his pen name was Kaaginele adikeshava. Today, let us remember this great poet, philosopher, Saint, and composer in all reverence.
