In 1943, much before our independence, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose formed a government-in-exile based in Singapore. It was also called the Azad Hind Force or the government of Free India. The Azad Hind force had its own government, and currency, and was headquartered in Port Blair. Japan spearheaded this movement with adequate financial, political, and military support. This was a movement by Indians outside India to protest against their illegal occupation. However the British were successful in ousting this movement, and soon after, Netaji was killed in a plane crash. Netaji's death still remains a mystery! There were thousands of Indians who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, and every effort shall be thanked and evergreen in our memories!
