All of us love to keep pets at home, dogs, cats, parakeets, etc. But, is it understood that these pets harbor deadly viruses like rabies? Every pet animal, especially dogs, must be vaccinated in time to mitigate the dog bite that spreads rabies. If not looked into, it is a deadly disease that causes death if unattended. Strays pose more risks than any other animal. Nearly 40% of all deaths in Asia and Africa are children. Awareness must be built in people to get first aid immediately after a dog bite or scratch. Pet owners are more likely to be responsible pet parents as their dogs are well taken care of. Let us be more concerned about rabies as the World Health Organization is going all out to mitigate rabies. Let us play the role of responsible citizens to vaccinate all the strays in their vicinity, thereby fostering a healthy society.
