On the 22nd of July, 1947, the government of India adopted the national flag just a few days before India celebrated Independence Day. The tri-color holds immense significance as our first prime minister, Pt. Nehru described it as a symbol of freedom for all our countrymen. This established our country, India, as a proud and independent nation. It was indeed an honorable and happiest moment for every Indian who was free from the clutches of British rule. The flag was designed by Shri Pingali Venkayya, which had three colors; orange, white, and green, with a blue Ashoka Chakra in the middle. It was hoisted on April 13, 1923, in Nagpur. This was hoisted in commemoration of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre! This new flag came to be called the Swaraj Flag.' Shall we pay respects and say 'Jai Hind?'
